The Requirement

Foundations for a new-build garage were required near to protected trees.
Tree protection restrictions meant that the floor structure had to be suspended above ground with free airflow beneath.
Planning requirements detailed traditional brick construction.

The Solution

We developed a solution consisting of our QuadraPile helical screw piles along with galvainsed steel beams to support a beam and block floor.
This provided a floor suitable for use in a garage and able to take the load from cars parking in the garage.
The brickwork could be built from the steel beams and the overall result appears as a traditional construction.
Because the floor is suspended above the ground, there is no ground compaction which may damage tree roots and the small diameter piles also have minimal impact on the roots.
This solution was deployed very quickly and immediately available for the construction to progress.
