Redevelopment of the school in Oxford city centre created a requirement for a three-storey modular classroom building.
The foundations proved a challenge until the QuadraPile system was specified.
Restrictions on excavation and piling close to the protected tree on the site could be satisfied.
A design was developed to incorporate QuadraPile helical piles into small concrete pile caps.
Each cap had between 1 and 5 piles joined together by the concrete in order to ensure adequate load capacity.
Despite working around other contractors on site, all 121 piles were installed in just 6 days.
The concrete was then cast and the building delivered in modules to be set down onto the pile caps.
The small installation equipment meant minimal disruption for the site, school and neighbours.
