The Requirement

We were asked to assess this three-storey building after cracking was identified in numerous places, in order to propose a remedial solution to restrain further cracking and prolong the life of the structure.

We carried out both external and internal surveys before providing a report and remedial scheme to the client along with a quotation for carrying out the the work.

It was identified that replacement windows coupled with a lack of lintels was one of the main causes of the cracking alongside a small amount of foundation movement in places.

The Solution

We designed a scheme of masonry reinforcement to run right around the building in order to reinstate the structural integrity of the brickwork.

We also included crack stitching inside the building where significant cracking was present.

Localised rebuilding and repointing was carried out to address missing mortar and historical damage to the building.

The whole process including scaffolding, site welfare and Building Control was handling by QuadraBuild alongside the supply and installation of the reinforcement.

Once complete, we were asked to repeat the assessment and subsequent remedial repair work on another 8 similar blocks for the same client.
